May 9, 2018, Chicago, IL — Gift of Flight is now teaching a weekly Aviation STEM Colloquium Class at the Lindblom Math & Science Academy High School in the Chicago, IL. This weekly class is designed to unite all their other studies in science, technology, engineering and math together in pursuit of aviation and inspire them in aerospace education careers. Each week, we have been covering a new aviation topic — such as regulations, aerodynamics, systems, weather and practical flying sills — with the goal being that, at the end of the class, each study is prepared enough to take the Private Pilot written examination. Additionally, field trips to Airfields, Control Towers, Repair Shops, Weather Stations and more has been interspersed between the curriculum to maintain the “fun factor”. Of course, the real fun begins in the Summer of 2018 when, after completion of the course, Gift of Flight will offer flying opportunities to the students. Check back for updates and photos as our pilot program (pun intended) rolls-out to inspire these wonder kids in aviation.
